These investments will create an extremely attractive environment for business development across multiple sectors of the economy.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>Beyond investments financed through SAFE and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), investors have already begun entering Romania&#8217;s rare mineral extraction sector, a development that requires significant logistics and industrial infrastructure.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>A relevant example is graphite. Romania holds the largest graphite reserves in Europe, located in Baia de Fier, Gorj County. Investments announced by Salrom are estimated at \u20ac628 million and aim to create the first industrial facility in Europe equipped with state-of-the-art technology capable of producing 120,000 tons of ore annually.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>In the magnesium sector, the American group Amerocap, through Verde Magnesium, is preparing a \u20ac115 million investment to reopen the Budureasa mine. In the copper sector, the Canadian company Euro Sun Mining has already announced a \u20ac300 million investment in Rovina, Hunedoara County. The project will extract not only copper but also gold. Annual production of 20,000 tons of copper concentrate would account for more than 2% of total European production.<br>Beyond these projects, Romania is increasingly growing as a nearshoring destination, meaning the relocation of production closer to European markets. This trend is supported by rising transportation costs caused by disruptions on key global trade routes. Through the Port of Constan\u021ba and the Danube corridor, goods can reach Western Europe up to four days faster than via northern maritime routes.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>And it&#8217;s not just my opinion. Maersk, the world&#8217;s largest container shipping company, has highlighted these advantages as well. Consider also the significant interest expressed by Rheinmetall AG and the Swiss company MSC in acquiring the Mangalia shipyard, currently undergoing insolvency proceedings.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>At the same time, despite the challenges generated by inflation\u2014we are likely to experience another three to four months of price increases before seeing some moderation starting in September, partly due to the base effect\u2014and despite financing difficulties, I do not expect the National Bank of Romania to reduce interest rates this year. We must also take into account the increasing pressure caused by payment delays and financial blockages across the economy.<br>However, despite these challenges, I believe we must look ahead, evaluate opportunities, and think seriously about the future. By 2027, most likely in the second half of the year, Romania should begin emerging from this period of stagflation.<br>In a recent analysis, Frames estimated that Romania has the potential to attract approximately \u20ac10 billion in investments over the next five years for the development of logistics and industrial spaces, funded by both private and public capital.<br>In this context, according to an EY Romania study, 56% of foreign companies intend to expand their operations in Romania\u2014a very encouraging figure considering the security challenges along the country&#8217;s eastern border.<br>Most investors evaluating opportunities in Romania are particularly interested in supply chain operations and logistics.<br>From e-commerce and FMCG retail to automotive, pharmaceuticals, fashion, industrial equipment, machinery, and construction, the range of industries interested in logistics and industrial facilities continues to grow.<br>The key is to avoid unnecessary delays, build more predictable businesses, and create organizations capable of investing and growing for the future.<\/mark><br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><br>Thank you, Frisomat Romania, for the invitation to share these perspectives with your audience.
