Steel padel court canopy allows Meadow Club in Kontich to play all year round
Meadow Club in Kontich is a padel club and events venue that is all about the experience. After the rapid completion of a clubhouse, a timber and steel construction which was built by Frisomat’s subsidiary HAHBO, the club’s owners wanted a canopy for several padel courts so that they could keep them open in all weather conditions. They already knew Frisomat from the previous project as an international steel construction company with a circular construction system in galvanised cold-formed steel.
Technical puzzle that looks impressive
What started out as a teambuilding park has grown into a fully-fledged events and padel venue with ten courts, five of which are covered. It was for these covered padel courts that co-owner Gavin Van Saelen needed a steel construction company. The company had to be able to solve the technical puzzle: a large span structure, enough height for freedom of play and rapid installation. Frisomat designed an ASTRIGMA padel court canopy measuring 22 by 61 metres with a gutter height of 7.5 metres, made entirely of steel and built out of lightweight yet robust elements. “Frisomat overcame a whole host of technical challenges. In addition, their stylistic elements made the project look impressive”, says Gavin.

prefab system and professional approach, Meadow Club held its opening day just five months after
the first arrangements had been made. “That meant we could benefit from the new playing season,
which was a huge bonus for us.”
One group, one all-round experience
With this project, the Frisomat Group has proved how modular timber construction and steel construction can reinforce each other: HAHBO created the warm, inviting clubhouse, and Frisomat built the industrial canopy above the courts. “Working with them has been a positive experience,” Gavin concludes. “Frisomat and HAHBO stand for transparency, speed and good value for money.”
