Autocars Jacob Tourisme can keep its entire fleet under one roof with Frisomat’s steel garage
A family business with a long history and clear ambition: this is how the French transport company Autocars Jacob Tourisme describes itself. With a brand new steel garage from Frisomat, the business based in the town of Gap now has a central, safe and functional home for its entire fleet.
One place for everything and everyone
Autocars Jacob Tourisme has been active since 1966. Today, it has a team of about 20 employees and 19 vehicles. The company was looking for a new building for its coaches as an extension to its first building, which Frisomat built in 2001. The building had to be spacious, safe and weatherproof, because with the very severe winters and extremely sunny summers in France’s Hautes-Alpes, parking in the open air was not an option. In addition, the company wanted to be able to park all its coaches together, have space for maintenance equipment, and accommodate all the drivers in one place.
For this purpose, Frisomat built a spacious garage in galvanised cold-formed steel with enough space for the entire fleet, including a rest area for drivers, administrative offices and even a small showroom for a classic coach.
No pillars and plenty of flexibility
The garage was designed with large doors, 4.5 meters high and 7 meters wide, so that the luxury coaches could drive in and out easily without risk of damage. There are no support pillars inside, which increases freedom of movement and safety even more. According to owner Vincent Jacob, the timing and completion of the project were also at a high level: “If I had to sum up our collaboration with Frisomat in three words, I’d say: advice, speed and efficiency.”
