DEUFOL’s steel warehouse in Antwerp grows with their logistics ambitions
DEUFOL is an international specialist in industrial packaging and logistics. The company was looking for a new warehouse to store products for one of its most important customers. DEUFOL was no stranger to Frisomat, as the steel construction company had already built them a storage building in Lier. That positive experience was the deciding factor in opting once again for the Belgian family business that makes dreams in steel come true.
Construction project with no surprises
On the site in the Port of Antwerp, Frisomat constructed a 5,500 m² warehouse, consisting of three linked buildings. The steel structure is about nine metres high and completely enclosed, except for two doors along the side of the site. Frisomat closely matched all the technical plans to fit the concrete foundations made by an external contractor. This gave DEUFOL exactly the space their customer needs – with no surprises on site.
Natural daylight, anti-condensation under the roof and a modular spans
The storage building is made of galvanised cold-formed steel with a special anti-condensation layer under the roof. Alternating light strips provide plenty of natural daylight and mandatory ventilation grilles increase safety and comfort for employees. The steel construction company Frisomat’s modular construction system, with spans of twenty by ninety metres, makes a future expansion simple: if DEUFOL expands, the steel warehouse simply grows with it.
One group, two solutions
During assembly, DEUFOL’s logistics activities continued as usual, thanks to detailed planning and clear agreements. “Our cooperation with Frisomat could be best described as smooth sailing, with direct communication and few headaches. I’d rate it nine out of ten,” says Jan Op de Beeck, Regional Operations Manager Benelux. In addition, the subsidiary Interloods carried out a roof renovation on the site, so that DEUFOL could get two crucial projects completed by the same group.
